"My love of art and the need to express myself in a creative way led me to write about the outdoors and conservation of natural resources.  In turn, I was lured to the pastime of fly fishing by the artistry of fly tying and probably tied flies for a year before I ever put one in the water." 

"Watercolor flirts with me, draws me out in unexpected ways.  Sometimes I respond in a spontaneous, free-swinging manner; other times in a controlled disciplined way, avoiding tendencies toward rigidity."

"I am intrigued by the relationship of light and shadow.  Using layers of paint to express a desired point of perspective, I allow the viewer to supply part of the mood, providing a glimpse of the image without seeing the whole."

"My style is still emerging.  I want to avoid being labeled one type of artist.  Many subjects interest me and as I learn more about them, my art moves and grows.  Although I'm a realistic painter, I often just give a hint of an image or feeling in a landscape.  I like to leave a little something for people to discover on their own."
